Rachel:
Our first date was at an Italian restaurant called Cattivella on December 1, 2023. Nathan took a stab at somewhere in the middle of us because I refused to tell him where I lived haha. I remember being so nervous. I was bold enough to slide into his DMs on instagram asking him to take me on a date when he got back home from Thanksgiving with his family, but in person felt so different. The night went by so fast and I enjoyed every minute of it. At the end of the night the nerves came back and I remember asking him for a do over on our first kiss because I thought I messed it up.
Nathan:
Our first date was at an Italian restaurant called Cattivella. It was on Dec. 1st 2023. And I felt extremely nervous, but in a good way. I had met Rachel through working in the ICU (very romantic). In my mind, Rachel was way out of my league. And so was extremely surprised when she asked me, to ask her, out on a date. I believe I was able to keep my cool during the date. Least well enough to get a second one. I was surprised with how easily we conversed with one another. I truly did not want the night to end.
First Date
Rachel:
I knew the proposal was going to happen at some point this year, but I didn't know when. We had talked about it (Nathan told me it would be this year). I had gone looking at rings with my mom to find one that I liked, but I didn't know if he had bought it yet. We went on a camping trip with some friends. Had a great time. It was the last morning of the trip and we had just finished drinking our morning coffee when Nathan asked if I wanted to get a picture in front of the mountains and the lake. It's not something out of the realm of possibilities for us. We take a lot of photos together. I remember him turning to me, telling me he was nervous, and then getting down on one knee. I was so happy and surprised, I forgot all the nice things he said during the proposal and had to ask for a recap later. All I remember thinking is that I needed to make sure I actually said yes because you see those videos of proposals where the girl forgets to actually say yes. He then surprised me with a one night stay in Breck to celebrate. He was even thoughtful enough to pack a nice outfit for me because he knew I was only packing camping clothes! It was the perfect weekend. Very us.
Nathan:
I proposed to Rachel at Eleven Mile Reservoir during a camping trip. We had planned to camp for two days, but then I had secretly booked an additional day out in Breckenridge for us to celebrate after the proposal. Rachel loves to camp and to paddle board, so I thought this to be a great time to pop the question. It was on the morning of the final camping day that I chose to propose. We had just finished our coffee and the sun had just crested the mountains. Some friends were camping there as well, so I asked one to take a picture of Rachel and I with the mountains and lake in the background. It was then I surprised Rachel by dropping to my knee. She seemed to have been genuinely caught off guard. She said YES! She got a little teary and I was shaking like a leaf . It is one of the happiest days of my life.
